Seville, Spain — October 1, 2024 — Pirta, an innovator in passive cooling solutions, is excited to announce its involvement in the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator. The company's breakthrough passive cooling paint and primer will be piloted at Amazon's Seville fulfillment center in 2025, helping to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions at the site.

The highly reflective and emissive properties of Pirta paint allow it to achieve sub-ambient surface temperatures, offering efficient cooling even in hot environments without requiring active energy inputs. The energy requirements of standard air conditioning systems, especially for large warehouses, can be a significant part of a company’s budget and carbon footprint, but using Pirta’s passive cooling technology significantly mitigates both.

The Amazon Sustainability Accelerator equips entrepreneurs with the skills and opportunities to grow their business and positively impact the environment. By providing mentorship, funding, and access to Amazon's resources, the program aims to accelerate the development of sustainability solutions throughout the company, thereby fostering a collaborative ecosystem where cutting-edge ideas can thrive, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future. Since launching in 2022, the Accelerator has supported more than 25 start-ups across the UK and Europe, provided over €1 million in grants and credits, and helped those businesses increase sales by 700% and raise over €18.7 million to date.

Upon completion, Amazon will assess the environmental impact, financial viability, and overall effectiveness of the pilot to determine whether it can be scaled across other Amazon sites as part of a long-term partnership.
